Back on My Feet is committed to building a stronger and healthier community. The Foothill 5k Challenge supports Back on My Feet's services to increase self-sufficiency among individuals experiencing homelessness and periods of transition. Celebrate your accomplishment at our official Golden Road Brewing Co. post-race party! Select beers will be only $5, and 15% of proceeds from all sales will benefit Back on My Feet! The post-race party will begin at 10:00 a.m. and end at 2:00 p.m. Golden Road is located at 5410 W. San Fernando Road in Los Angeles, just 5 quick miles from the Glendale Sports Complex.

Thank you for choosing to register for the Foothill 5k Challenge at the Glendale Sports Complex on Sunday, April 10. If you have any questions regarding your race registration, please contact Lesley Brillhart.
Runners and hikers will start at the Glendale Sports Complex (located at 2200 Fern Lane, Glendale, CA 91208) and make their way to the Catalina Verdugo trail. Once on the trail, they'll feel the burn as they climb more than 1,000 feet in 2 miles. The pain will prove worth it, though. After reaching the highest point of the course at mile 2, runners will be rewarded with spectacular 360 degree views of the San Gabriel Mountains. From there, they will traverse switchbacks and continue to the base of the Sports Complex, approximately a quarter mile from the finish line.
Please note that all trail distances are approximate and may be marginally longer or shorter than indicated. The course may be subject to change due to circumstances beyond the control of event management. While this is unlikely, participants will be notified of any necessary changes. There will be a water station at the finish line. If you anticipate needing additional hydration during the race, please bring a personal water bottle with you.
The event course is almost exclusively on trails of varying widths, including single track. Please come prepared for steep and sometimes uneven terrain and participate on the course accordingly. Do not pass other participants on the course unless you can safely do so. Always pass on the left and announce your move to participants ahead of you. Use common sense and good judgment, and remember that we're there to have fun!

Does the Foothill 5k Challenge benefit a charity?
Yes! All proceeds from this event benefit Back on My Feet Greater Los Angeles. We are a national non-profit organization that combats homelessness through the power of running, community support and essential housing and employment resources. Learn more about our mission and process here.
Where and when do I pick up my race packet?
Packet pick up will be available at Run With Us on Saturday, April 9, from 12:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Run With Us is located at 235 N. Lake Avenue in Pasadena. Race day packet pick up will also be available from 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m. Note: Race shirts guaranteed for first 500 registrants.
Can someone else pick up my packet for me?
Yes. Someone else can pick up your packet as long as they have a copy of your ID and order number.
I registered, but now I'm unable to attend the event. Can I get a refund or transfer my registration?
All registrations are final and cannot be transferred between individuals.
Can I hike the course instead of running?
Sure! Participants are welcome to run or hike the 3.1 mile course. For everyone's safety, walkers/hikers should position themselves in the back of the starting area to avoid congestion on the course.
When is the last day to register?
Online registration will close on Thursday, April 7, at 4:00 p.m. PT. If the event is not sold out, registration will be available on Saturday at Run With Us during packet pick up (12:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.) and between 7:00 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 10, at the event. The cost to register at packet pick up or at the event will be $50. In the case that the event sells out, shirts will be guaranteed for the first 500 registrants.
Does my registration fee include anything other than entry into the event?
It does! The first 500 registrants will receive a free Mizuno race shirt. Men's and women's t-shirt sizes are available on a first come, first served basis. Participants will also receive finishers' swag. You must be present at packet pick up or the event to receive your t-shirt. Swag will be distributed at the finish line.
Is there an age requirement for participation?
All participants must be at least 14 years of age or older on event day. Participants under 18 years of age must have a parent or legal guardian complete their registration and event waiver.
Is this event rain or shine?
What's a challenge without some mist and mud? In the case of light/regular rain, the event will still go on as planned. However, the safety of our participants is a priority for us. If any threatening weather conditions are present the day of the event, the event may be delayed or canceled. "Threatening weather" includes (but is not limited to) lightening, high winds, or heavy rain that has made the trail less stable. In the case that the event is canceled or delayed, no refunds can be provided. Your registration fee is considered a valuable donation to Back on My Feet and will support our local programming for individuals experiencing homelessness here in LA. In the event of cancellation, all participants will receive notification via email and social media with information about how they can still pick up their packet, including their shirt and finisher swag.
Where do I park?
Free parking is available on a first come, first served basis at the Glendale Sports Complex. If the parking lot fills, participants will be directed to nearby overflow options. Carpooling is highly suggested due to limited space.
When does the race start?
The first wave of this race will begin at 8:15 a.m. The last wave will begin at 8:30 a.m. All runners should be in the starting area no later than 8:05 a.m. Please note that packet pick up will close at 8:00 a.m.
Will there be chip timing?
Is there a course cut off time?
Yes. The course cut off time (maximum time to complete the course) is 10:30 a.m. Participants who have not crossed the finish line by 10:30 a.m. can complete the course of their own volition. However, their time will not be included in the final results.
Can I wear headphones, earbuds, etc.?
No. Given the nature of trail runs, it is important to be aware of your surroundings to protect your safety and the safety of those around you. We promise that the views will make up for your missing music. Participants seen using headphones on the course will be forced to remove them or be pulled from the event.
Are strollers allowed on the course?
Because of the nature and terrain of trail runs, strollers are not allowed on the course. This is to protect all participants' safety.
Are dogs allowed on the course?
We wish! Again, to protect everyone's safety, dogs are not allowed on the course.
Can I run the race without registering?
No. This event is a fundraiser for Back on My Feet Greater Los Angeles. Event registration fees will support our mission to help individuals experiencing homelessness tranform their lives and achieve employment and independent living. Read more about our impact and program here. Additionally, the course can only accommodate a set number of runners. To protect everyone's safety, individuals must register to participate in the event.
Are bikes allowed on the race course?
No. The course will only be open to runners and hikers during the event period.
Will hydration be provided along the course?
Water will be available at the finish line area and at the turnaround point just before Mile 2. If you anticipating needing more hydration on course, please bring a personal water bottle to the event and carry it with you on course.
Can I volunteer at the race?
Of course! We would love to have you join our event team. Please click the "Volunteer" tab to choose your desired shift. If you're interested in getting a group involved, please contact Lesley.
Will there be prizes?
Yes! We are excited to offer prizes to the top three male and female finishers.
What is the raffle?
On race day, we'll have a selection of exclusive prizes available for runners to enter to win. Each raffle ticket purchased can be entered into the drawing pool for a specific prize, increasing your chances of winning what you want! Tickets are $5 each or a pack of five tickets for $20. All proceeds from the raffle benefit our local programming at Back on My Feet Greater Los Angeles.
Is there an after party?
Yes! After the race, we will be having an after party at Golden Road Brewing Co. Just 5 miles away from the Glendale Sports Complex, the brewery will be serving select beers for only $5 and delicious food to our Foothill 5k finishers. After a Challenge like ours, this is the perfect way to kick off your Sunday Funday.

Do you want to help promote the Foothill 5k Challenge by becoming a race ambassador? As a race ambassador, you will be provided with language and collateral to promote the event to your friends, colleagues, and other networks. Your name will be placed in a drop down menu so individuals can easily credit you for recruiting them. When you recruit at least ten new participants, your entry will be refunded! The race ambassador that recruits the most individuals before registration closes will receive a free shoe fitting package from Run With Us.
