Development & Marketing Manager
Eve joins Back on My Feet with endless enthusiasm because the mission combines three of her core passions in life – supporting the growing homeless population, mobilizing volunteers and raising money through creative marketing campaigns, and running and fitness.
After graduating from UCLA, Eve developed a diverse professional background through working in medicine, social work, education, advocacy for the incarcerated, fine art, and publishing. Over the last decade, Eve has worked with nonprofit organizations Inside Out Writers, Corazon de Vida, and CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) both in rolling up her sleeves work with disadvantaged youth and also in event planning and fundraising roles. Well versed in Los Angeles County resources available for homeless and at-risk populations, Eve has assisted in finding housing and job prospects for foster youth who aged out of the system and formerly incarcerated young adults.
A nonfiction author, Eve writes books featuring underrepresented youth, such as those born into gang life and unaccompanied minor immigrants. Her first book, One Cut - a haunting nonfiction story with a juvenile justice bent – launched Simon and Schuster’s new young adult true crime line SIMON TRUE in May 2017.
A lifelong runner, Eve has competed in dozens of half marathons and completed the L.A. marathon (slowly) several times.
Member Services Coordinator, Back on My Feet Los Angeles
Illah joined Back on My Feet as a Volunteer in February 2015. In just a few months she became the Lead for Team US Vets in her hometown of Long Beach, bringing her smile and laughter to every early morning run. Although she is self admittedly not the fastest runner, she strives for constant improvement using running as a catalyst for growth in all areas of life. Illah believes that it is not merely the act of running itself, but the determination, discipline, and with Back on My Feet, the camaraderie, that allows for a redefinition of what we are capable of as runners, teammates, and as a community.
Illah is very excited to engage in this new role, supporting and continuing to grow Back on My Feet in our Greater Los Angeles community.
